Kelly Tolhurst appointed education minister

The MP for Rochester and Strood has been appointed minister of state at Department for Education

Kelly Tolhurst was appointed minister of state at Department for Education on 7 September 2022.

Formerly treasurer of HM Household (deputy chief whip) from July 2022 to September 2022, Tolhurst has also held the posts of parliamentary under secretary of state at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and parliamentary under secretary of state at the Department for Transport and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Tolhurst was educated in Rochester at Chapter High School. From 2008, she ran a marine survey business and had previous jobs in marketing. She was elected as the MP for Rochester and Strood in 2015.
