Enterprising Exeter School pupils hit Radio 1

The schoolboys featured on the station’s Life Hacks podcast, talking about their invention of a mindfulness card game

Exeter School pupil, Eddy Lister, has been featured on BBC Radio One’s podcast, Life Hacks. The lower sixth former was talking to broadcaster, Katie Thistleton, about his young enterprise (YE) team’s mindfulness card game.

The YE team – FireDragons – devised the game as a way of tackling anxiety, and the entrepreneurial Lister contacted the station as a means of promoting the product.

Fellow lower sixth formers, James Broderick and James Heard, also headed to the BBC’s Broadcasting House, together with YE advisor, Ian McGregor.

“Afterwards, we were all buzzing with happiness, knowing that it had been a very fun yet very successful day,” said Eddy.

FireDragons conceived of the game to help fellow pupils deal with exam stress and other pressures. It proved a hit, with Kitsons Solicitors, HSBC and Stephens Scown solicitors among the businesses to have placed orders, alongside such educational institutions as Plymouth University and local schools.

The team has now set up as an independent business in order to spread the concept and idea, and have a patent pending on their idea.
