The five nurseries which are all part of Chatsworth schools, provide a foundation for young children to thrive in safe and happy environments. The nurseries include Duchess Nursery Parsons Green, Duchess Nursery Abingdon, Duchess Nursery Steventon, Duchess Nursery Wallingford and Swinbrook House Nursery School Marylebone.
The schools use personal, social, and emotional development as an integral part of daily planning but this year’s World Mental Health Day with the theme of making mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority, has helped to provide a platform for planned activities. Given the age of the nursery children, all activities are fun and help to promote the positive wellbeing of children, staff, and parents in a nurturing environment.
There will also be lavender sensory trays, bubbles and atmospheric lighting to promote calm and wellbeing.
Activities will take place on 10 October October to raise awareness around mental health. This will include meditation, yoga, foot rubs and the use of stimulating picture books and games to encourage children to talk about their feelings in a supportive environment.
Staff ensure children know they can talk about their feelings whenever they need to, not just on World Mental Health Day. Wellbeing and kindness is part of the ethos of all the nurseries.
As well as planned activities, there will also be lavender sensory trays, bubbles and atmospheric lighting to promote calm and wellbeing. The nurseries believe that wellbeing and positive mental health extends beyond the nursery environment, so parents and staff are also supplied with gift bags to promote taking well-earned breaks which include pampering goodies and also a positive message to enhance wellbeing.
