Beech Hall mental health ambassadors take the lead

Beech Hall focuses on the Young Minds  #HelloYellow campaign for World Mental Health Day

Beech Hall School, Macclesfield, will use its mental health ambassadors from the pupil body to lead the school’s drive to raise mental health awareness on World Mental Health Day, 10th October. The focus is based around activities that increase self-esteem, encourage social interaction, and give a sense of hope and purpose aimed at providing a better ability to cope with stress.

The activity will run alongside the Young Minds campaign incorporating the slogan #HelloYellow. Nursery children will be organising yellow inspired fundraising activities, whilst infants and juniors will be tasked with planting daffodils within the garden to bring bright, joyful yellow and orange tones in the spring.

Children will also be encouraged to create artwork to express and symbolise what mental health means to each of them. The school will use World Mental Health Day to highlight acts of kindness throughout the school. Pupils and staff will be encouraged to write or draw on yellow pieces of card which can be taken home at the end of the day.

Seniors will create a ‘term promise’ where they will each declare a promise they want to keep and action. The pieces of paper recording the promise will be returned in January 2023 for reflection and further action on what to do next.

The finale to the day will be a bake sale for the whole school, sharing cake, drinks, and social interaction.
