Taunton School appears on town’s Monopoly game

The school says it is ‘delighted to be part of the legendary family game, sharing it with other significant members of the community’

Taunton School has been included on the Somerset town’s Monopoly edition, taking the square traditionally associated with Bond Street, as well as featuring on a Community Chest card.

Andrew Edwards, headmaster of Taunton Prep School, said: ‘We are very excited to be a part of this iconic family game which has stood the test of time. Enjoying family time together away from the myriad of screens everyone has these days is really important.

“There are also many disguised educational benefits to playing games such as Monopoly which help with children’s development. Research shows that playing Monopoly can teach children maths skills and help them apply them to the real world of finance and investing, whether it’s adding up the dice, counting the money, learning budgeting skills, or logic and reasoning, it all helps to back up what they are taught in the classroom.

“There are also the social aspects of the game such as negotiating with opponents, dealing with adversity, luck and planning ahead. I am looking forward to playing it at home with my boys.”
