Strokes ahead at Lady Eleanor

Sophie Fussell, from The Lady Eleanor Holles School, becomes the fastest 12-year-old breaststroke swimmer in England

Sophie Fussell has enjoyed a tremendously successful time in the pool this summer. The pupil from The Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton has recorded 1:13.7 seconds and 2:40.93 in the 100m and 200m events at the National ASA Championships held in Sheffield.

Sophie recorded personal best times and was awarded the ASA English National Champion in both events, finishing with two silver medals behind Scotland’s Katie Robertson. In the 50m breaststroke she broke the British Age Group record for 12-year-olds by 0.8 seconds – an incredible margin in a 34-second race.

With such an impressive record it is not surprising that Sophie has been selected for an England Swimming Talent Programme.
