Thirteen-year-old Matthew Luff returned home laden down with silverware after his triumph on the prestigious Racing Kart de Cormeilles track, one of the most beautiful European karting circuits.
The World Finals attracted competitors from five continents with drivers from Australia, North America, Canada, Japan, Dubai and Europe. It also attracted an audience of over 20,000 viewers watching live on the SODI website.
Matthew was representing the UK as National Champion, one of nearly 300 drivers competing at the highest level. He came first in five races and second in the sixth. He then went on to win three Grand Finals and was second in the Super Final to win the world title as the best driver over the two days of racing.
Matthew beat the former German Sodi World Champion to second place and the current French Champion (on his home track) to third place.
Matthew and two other Brentwood School students have won a place in the National Final of the British Schools’ Karting Championship (BSKC) 2015. They will compete against the best 25 school and college teams in the country including the seven Regional Champions at Whilton Mill on 18th July, just two weeks after the British Formula 1 race at nearby Silverstone.
Matthew, Callum Brooks and Connor Jupp earned their place in the National Final by achieving first place in the Regional Final of the UK’s largest school karting competition at Buckmore Park.
The British Schools’ Karting Championship (BSKC) is an ‘arrive and drive’ karting championship that brings competitive, cost effective karting into UK schools. The championship has been going for eight years but already over 10,000 students have raced in the BSKC and competed for the title of British School Karting Champions.

The 2015 BSKC has seen over 10,000 students race for the title so just getting to the National Final is already a victory!
“The BSKC is designed to introduce young people to competitive karting. As well as offering a sport that is not always available at a school level, the BSKC provides a simple route for talented students to take part in the exciting world of motorsports.
