Opera Brava visits Farlington

Girls in years three, four, seven and eight at Farlington School have rehearsed and staged an opera from scratch

Guided by professional opera company Opera Brava, pupils at Farlington School spent a week preparing for a performance of the opera ‘Prince Caspian’ in front of parents and friends.

Taken out of usual lessons for the week, the girls took part in every aspect of staging the production, from making costumes and props to performing solos. The girls worked and rehearsed with professional singers who helped them to develop their skills in singing, dancing, acting, painting and creating.

Brian Dallimore, Farlington prep and lower school music teacher, said: “The girls have had an unrivalled opportunity to discover opera and enjoy the art of performance under the expert and lively tuition of some of the country’s leading professionals. Whether they had a key performing role or helping backstage with props, the girls have enjoyed a great experience and grown in confidence.”
