Meet OUP’s new English National Curriculum Specialist

SPONSORED: We talk to Hannah Wright, Oxford University Press Education’s new English National Curriculum Specialist, about her experiences

Introduce yourself!

I’m Hannah Wright, the new English National Curriculum Specialist at Oxford University Press. Come and meet me at the 2018 COBIS Conference – I shall be representing Oxford University Press Education at Stand 130.

Tell us what your role involves

My job is to help British and International schools get to know our very diverse range of resources for the English National Curriculum. I also ensure our Education Consultants across the world become English National Curriculum experts and can therefore help teachers make the best decisions for their school. I’ve been in this role for a few months now and I am looking forward to meeting representatives from International Schools at the COBIS 2018 Conference.

Can you tell us a bit about how you got to where you are today?

For the past three years I have been an International Education Consultant working with schools across Europe and Africa. When I wasn’t in the Oxford office, I was visiting schools all over the region, introducing teachers to our resources and getting to know the needs of British and International Schools. I feel privileged to have worked in such a beautiful and fascinating part of the world, and learnt so much from talking to teachers and exploring hundreds of different schools.

In this new role as English National Curriculum Specialist I look forward to helping our Education Consultants across the world provide invaluable curriculum and resource support to schools.

What are you most looking forward to about attending the COBIS 2018 conference?

We recently unveiled a brand new visual identity to really tell the story of Oxford University Press Education. COBIS will be the first conference where we really focus on introducing this identity to schools. The whole team is very excited to see what the delegates think of our new look. We’ll also have some beautiful looking treats to give away to visitors to our stand – hopefully there will be some left for us at the end of the day!

What’s your favourite book and why?

Michael Morpurgo’s Why the Whales Came. It’s the first book I remember reading and loving. Michael Morpurgo became my favourite author and I even used his stories in my university dissertation!

Finally, what is your favourite place to travel to?

China! I lived there for 2 years but haven’t made it back yet. I would love to go back to see friends and eat the amazing food! I am looking at planning a new adventure so if you are at COBIS I look forward to hearing your suggestions about where I should visit next!
