Loretto crowned UK golf champs

Loretto Golf Academy were the recent victors at prestigious HMC National Finals

Loretto Golf Academy’s first team golfers recently competed in the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC) National Finals at Delamere Golf Club in Cheshire.

Students Cameron Blair, Lou Tan, John-Paul Ralph, Yannick Artigolle, Nikolaj Dahl and Sebastien Saverino had qualified for the finals by winning the Northern group, played throughout the year, with victories over Dollar Academy, QEGS Blackburn and Worksop College.

The finals took place from 7-8 July, where the Loretto Golf Academy team secured 2-1 wins over Bedford School, Radley College, Millfield School and Reeds School to be crowned the UK’s number one golf school.

In a moving gesture, the team dedicated their win to the memory of Mr Craig McGeary, greatly respected and much-admired Loretto sports coach, who died so suddenly last week.

Head of Golf coaching at Loretto Golf Academy, Ryan Scott, was full of praise for the team’s monumental win: “This win was testament to the team’s spirit, hard work, but also to the unrivalled golf programme at Loretto Golf Academy.”
