Scottish seven-year-old prepares to head stateside at the end of the month, after securing a place in the junior golf World Championships

Grace Crawford, from Loretto Golf Acadamy, has booked her spot in the US Kids Golf World Championship, at the end of July.

The youngster, from North Berwick, qualified for the finals after finishing eighth in the US Kids European Championships, which was held at Gullane golf club near Edinburgh during half-term. More than 500 youngsters played over the Gullane links, with players from 40 different countries represented, including Britain, France, Germany, Egypt, Switzerland and South Africa.

The US Kids World Championship is to take place at the Pinehurst Resort, in North Carolina, from July 30 to August 3.

Speaking about the event, Grace said: “I have never visited America before and I am really excited… It is a big event and there will be over 1,000 children taking part.”
