On Tuesday 17th January, Candice Brown, the winner of the 2016 Great British Bake Off, visited Wycombe Abbey to officially open the school’s new café, which is called The Courtyard.
Wycombe Abbey is a full boarding school for girls aged 11-18 years old and it was established in 1896, making it one of the first schools for girls.
The pupils were incredibly excited about welcoming Candice to the school and baked a selection of Victoria sponge cakes for her to taste. A question and answer session was also held in the school hall which will gave all of the girls the opportunity to hear from Candice and ask questions.
Headmistress Rhiannon Wilkinson said: “We were very excited about welcoming Candice to Wycombe Abbey for the official opening of our new school café. She was a breath of fresh air and the girls warmed to her immediately. As a teacher following her dreams she is a wonderful inspiration to us all. The Courtyard is also a wonderful new resource for the school which is enjoyed by pupils, parents and staff.”
