A Greater Manchester independent school saw its concert band enjoy a fine day out during the Easter break, when it performed at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).
Bolton School’s Joint Senior Concert Band took to the stage at the National Concert Band Festival, as part of a programme of 30 wind bands and big bands.
A select number of the band also featured in a performance by the weekend’s headline act, the Royal Marines Band Service.
As well as performing to a large audience, the band were presented with a gold award, with the percussion section singled out for an outstanding performance award.
The group also received encouraging feedback from BBC presenter and RNCM graduate, the percussionist Simone Rebello.
