Portland Place School has consolidated its senior leadership team with the appointment of a highly regarded and experienced new headmaster.

David Bradbury has joined the leading independent school from South Hampstead High School where he held the position of deputy head for over six years. He will continue to further develop Portland Place School as a facility where pupils and students strive for excellence in a warm and caring environment.

I am very proud to be Portland Place School’s new headmaster. It has an almost unique place in London day schools and a very particular purpose

He has also previously held the role of assistant head at Alleyne’s High School and prior to that was the head of Physics at Nicholas Chamberlaine School. His wealth of experience extends abroad as well, David was Physics co-ordinator at Bangkok Patana School for a number of years previous to holding roles at Chase Terrace High School and Newcastle-Under-Lyme college.

David has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics, an MSc. and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Keele as well as an MA in Education from the Open University. He is a member of the Institute of Physics (MInstP), a Chartered Physicist (CPhys) and a member of the Association for Science Education.

A man with many interests, outside of work David enjoys archery, cookery, cryptic crosswords, film, literature and music as well as hill-walking and board games.

He commented: “I am very proud to be Portland Place School’s new headmaster. It has an almost unique place in London day schools and a very particular purpose. As The Good School’ Guide describes us, 'small, nurturing and refreshingly relaxed. A haven of creativity in the pushy, academically competitive world of London day schools. A place for engaged, lively, normal kids.' I share that vision and purpose and look forward to leading Portland Place’s development in the coming years as new educational challenges have to be met.”
