Brighter Students Thanks to Gamma

8th December 2011

Gamma Illumination's EFG downlights have provided Newcastle University with the perfect solution to a tricky high level lighting conundrum.

The King's Gate building's impressive entrance hall extends to the full height of the 5-storey building which means that not only did the luminaires need to be extremely powerful, they also needed to be exceptionally reliable, as access for luminaire maintenance is severely restricted.

The 165W QL EFG luminaire was specifically designed for this kind of application, with its enormous 12,000 lumen output and an unrivalled average life of 100,000 hours (that's 11 years in constant use).

The QL lamp also offers instant flicker-free ignition and this has allowed Newcastle University to save energy by operating the luminaires via a daylight sensor.
